Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how MATWORK ("we", "us", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier from those providers and, with your permission, your email address and name.

Training Data

We store the training data you log in the app, including: session dates and durations, techniques drilled, rolls and sparring outcomes, training partners' names (as you enter them), competition results, belt and stripe promotions, and your home gym name.

Optional Data (with your permission)

• Location — used to find gyms near you when you tap "Find Gyms," and, if you turn on Matwork Match, to set your approximate area (see below). Location is not tracked in the background.
• Microphone — only used when you record a voice session log. Audio is transcribed and the transcription is saved; the raw audio is not stored.
• Apple Health / Health Connect — if you grant access, we can read your existing workouts to enrich your training picture and write your BJJ sessions as "Martial Arts" workouts. We do not read any other health data.

Matwork Match

Matwork Match is an optional partner-matching feature for people 18 and over. It is off until you set it up. When you turn it on, we store the following so we can show you to compatible partners and them to you:

• Profile — display name, date of birth (to confirm you are 18+; others see your age, not your birth date), optional photo, short bio, weight and weight preferences if you add them, and the arts, activities and intensity you want to train.
• Gender and partner preferences — your gender and who you want to practice and spar with. If you choose not to show your gender, it is never shown to other users; it is only used on our servers to apply your and other people's preferences.
• Approximate area — a town you pick, or coordinates rounded on your device to about 1 km before they are sent, plus your search radius. Other users see an approximate distance, never your coordinates.
• Availability — the times you are free to train, used to show shared availability and schedule sessions.
• Matches, sessions and messages — who you have requested or skipped, your matches, partner sessions you propose or accept, and chat messages with your matches.
• Blocks and reports — people you block and any reports you submit, which we review to keep Match safe.

Your Match profile is visible only to other Match users whose preferences and yours allow it, and only while your profile is set to visible. Unmatching or blocking ends the conversation. Deleting your account deletes your Match profile, matches, sessions and messages.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the app and its features.
• To generate AI-powered training recaps (your training data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the recap; see "Third-Party Services" below).
• To sync your data across devices you sign into.

Apple HealthKit

MATWORK integrates with Apple HealthKit to read your existing workout history and write your BJJ training sessions as "Martial Arts" workouts. This integration is entirely optional and requires your explicit permission.

• HealthKit data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account — it is not uploaded to our servers.
• We do not share HealthKit data with any third parties.
• We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing purposes.
• We do not use HealthKit data for any purpose beyond displaying your training history within the app.

MATWORK is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Always consult a qualified professional before starting any new training program.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Supabase — authentication and database. Your account and training data are stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
• Anthropic (Claude API) — processes your training summaries to generate weekly recaps when you request them. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models when accessed via their API.
• Apple Sign In / Google Sign In — used only to authenticate you if you choose those methods.

These services have their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app — this erases your account, all your training data, and all associated records. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Data Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored in Supabase's managed infrastructure. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data but no system is perfectly secure.

Children's Privacy

MATWORK is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You can view, export, and delete your data at any time from within the app. For questions or data requests, contact us at the email below.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Material changes will be communicated in the app or via email.
